Synopsis

It’s 1628, and Dave the Dodo is the last of his kind; naïve, relentlessly optimistic, and determined to fly. Bound for England as a pet for a grieving girl named Bridget, he befriends Eggy, a cunning rat he mistakes for his little brother. But when Dave accidentally swallows a priceless ruby meant for King Charles, he sparks international chaos. Shipwrecked in London, Dave is captured by a travelling menagerie, hunted by Indian Princess Janara, and pursued by eager taxidermists. As the chase escalates to royal proportions, Dave must overcome his fears, take flight (with the help of a pair of bloomers), and land safely in Bridget’s arms. In the end, the ruby is recovered, alliances are formed, and Dave’s legacy lives on when he is cloned 400 years later, and no longer the last of his kind.
